A busy week in South Louisiana Fly Fishing

While our regularly scheduled Step-by-Step tutorials will be back this Thursday, I wanted to take a moment to highlight the week ahead in south Louisiana fly fishing. Three great events are on the docket, making it the perfect time to meet some of the like-minded anglers and tyers that call this region home.

Without further ado, here’s what you have to look forward to:

Flies & Flights (Rally Cap Brewing; 01/18/2023)

Flies & Flights 2023 kicks off this Wednesday, January 18th, at Rally Cap Brewing (7pm till close) here in Baton Rouge. Come join Ben, Brian and I as we celebrate a new year on the water and share fish stories and a few rounds of beer.

As always, bring your vise and materials for your favorite flies. Or join us in tying the month’s featured pattern. We’ll have spare vises, tools and materials on hand for any new tyers looking to give it a try.

Acadiana Open Fly Tying Night (Acadiana Fly Rodders; 01/19/23)

The folks at Pack & Paddle and the Acadiana Fly Rodders, are once again teaming up to host Acadiana Open Fly Tying Night at the Pack & Paddle Outpost (behind the main shop).

This month I’ll be doing the honors of serving as guest tyer and will be kicking things off by tying the Hackle & Hair Craw.

Roughly an hour from both Baton Rouge and Alexandria, this event is a great opportunity for members of the various south and central Louisiana clubs to gather for an evening of tying and camaraderie.

NOFF Fly Fishing Expo (01/21/2023)

If two tying nights weren’t already enough, the NOFF Fly Fishing Expo is back this Saturday, January 21st. Hosted at the St. Christopher School Gymnasium in Metairie, door will open at 8 AM with seminars, tying demonstrations and a wide array of exhibitors & vendors.

I’ll be there tying alongside a slew of far more talented tyers and highly recommend stopping by if you can make it. It should be a great time, and I’m looking forward to seeing many of you there.

With three great events spanning four-days, there may not be a better opportunity to meet and interact with your fellow fly anglers and tyers here in Louisiana. Be sure to mark your calendar and attend any that fit your schedule. I’m confident that you won’t be disappointed.

And to any of you who I haven’t had the opportunity to meet in person, be sure to introduce yourself if you’re in attendance. It’s always great to put a face with a name.

Until next time. Tight lines!

Chris
